There are many, many people who adopt. Each of these people adopt for different reasons, adopt in different ways, and every single adoption is different. Some people choose to keep their story private, which I completely respect. However, those of you who know me or have followed my blog, know my life is an open book. Davin and I had many discussions about how much of our adoption we would share. There are parts that not even my family know. There are parts I choose to share with just a few. But for the most part, I am willing to share it all. Why? Because it's who I am. It's who my family is now. Dominic became part of our family in a very special way, and I like to share our journey and how we got to bring him home. It's a LONG story, so it is in pieces, but the first post is up on our adoption blog. If you want, you are free to follow along:

hi :)
just wanted you to know i was here and reading!
and...i ALWAYS have to share my impressions, so...i think the post on your adoption blog is my favorite post of yours that i've read. it is so clear and open and so positive about real-life hard stuff. anyway, you rock.
Laura,
I am very touched by what you wrote. I am so glad I read it. Thank God for wonderful families like you, Davin and Little Dom.
I agree! You rock! For sooo many reasons! :) Thanks for writing and sharing about both the hard and the easy stuff. Love ya!
Susan
LOVE HOW HONEST YOU ALWAYS ARE!
LOVE READING YOUR POST!
Did you think about how Dom will feel later in life when he reads all this?
@Von: Of course I have. I would be idiot not to. I have a seperate private blog for him as well. I know you advocate for parenting, but adoption can be a wonderful thing.
@Von: Or are you referring to mental health talk? Yes, of course I will share it with him. I want him to feel he can come to me with anything he has questions about.
